# Track Renewal Progress

Know exactly where you stand before renewal time.

CertLocker keeps a running tally of the continuing education you've completed toward each Cert's renewal, so you're never guessing whether you've done enough.

## View in Your Locker

You can see your renewal progress for every Cert at a glance in your Locker, where Certs with renewal requirements show a **Renewal Progress Ring**. **Tap a Cert** to open it, then tap the **Renewal progress** card to open the **Renewals** pane.

## Certs with Renewal Requirements

Many Cert Types, like NREMT and state EMS licenses, break renewal down into **Components** and **Requirements**, such as Airway, Cardiovascular, Medical, and Trauma, each with its own hours. The Renewals pane lists every one of them with a progress bar and a checkmark once it's complete. The total at the top adds them all up. Tap **Expand all** in the top bar to open every section at once.

### Apply Training

To credit a training you've already logged in CertLocker, tap the requirement you'd like to credit, and it will expand to reveal **Apply training**. Tap it, and you'll see **Credit training to…** with a search field and your training records. Each record shows how many CE units it carries and whether it falls **Inside active cycle**. Tap **Credit** beside the training you'd like to apply, and you'll see the requirement's progress bar and the total at the top update right away.

If a training falls outside your current renewal window (or its date is unknown), CertLocker will ask you to confirm with **Apply anyway**. A training can count toward several different Certs, but only one Component or Requirement on each Cert. If you pick a training that's already credited elsewhere on the same Cert, CertLocker will offer to **Reassign** it.

### Log Hours Manually

Have hours that aren't in a training record? In the expanded requirement, enter them in the **Manual** field (for example, **Manual (Hours)**), then tap **Save manual hours**. Manual hours count right alongside your applied training.

### Place & Move Hours

When hours are credited to a Component rather than one of its Requirements, they show up as **hours not yet placed**. Tap **Place** beside a training (or **Place manual hours**) to choose which Requirement they belong to, and use **Move** on a credited training to send it to a different Requirement. To take a training off a requirement, tap **Remove** (the training record itself stays in your Training list).

{% hint style="info" %}
**Full hours don't always mean done.** A Component stays in progress until each of its Requirements is met, even if its total hours bar is full.
{% endhint %}

## Certs without Renewal Requirements

For Cert Types that don't define their own requirements, the **Renewal progress** card shows **Earned** CE and the **Required** CE you set. Tap **Required** or **Manual credit** to change them, or tap **Apply training** to credit a training record. Your progress recalculates as soon as you make a change.

## Training Credits Itself

When you log a training with topics that match one of your Cert's requirements, and its date falls inside the Cert's current renewal window, CertLocker credits it automatically. You can always move or remove that credit yourself.

## When You're Done

Tap **Done** to close the Renewals pane and return to your Cert. When renewal time comes, see [Renew a Cert](/my-certs/renew-a-cert.md) and [Export Training Evidence](/sharing-certs/export-training-evidence.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.firecal.app/my-certs/track-renewal-progress.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
