# Notification Preferences

Decide how and when CertLocker gets your attention.

Tap **More** in the navigation bar, then tap **Notification Preferences**.

## Send Me Notifications

The **Send me notifications** switch at the top turns all notifications on or off. When it's off, nothing reaches you, but your choices below are kept, so if you change your mind later and turn it back on, everything is just as you left it.

## Reminder Timing

Scheduled reminders, like an approaching expiration, arrive at your **Preferred reminder hour** in your **Timezone**. Tap either one to change it.

## Choose Your Events & Delivery Methods

Notifications are grouped into **Certs**, **Training**, **Orgs**, and **Followers**, with each event listed by name, such as **Cert expiring soon**, **Training invite**, or **Org invite**. Below each one, you'll see how it reaches you, for example **Enabled: Inbox, Push, Email, Text**.

Tap an event to choose its delivery methods: **Inbox**, **Push**, **Email**, and **Text Message**. To receive push notifications, install CertLocker on your phone or tablet and allow notifications when asked. If you choose email or text and we don't have your address or phone number yet, CertLocker will ask for it.

## Default Reminder Schedule

For **Cert expiring soon**, you can also set the **Default reminder schedule**: how long before expiration we start reminding you, and how often we repeat.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Each Cert can have its own schedule, too.** To change the reminders for one Cert, open it and change its **Expiration reminder** (see [Update Cert Details](/my-certs/update-cert-details.md)).
{% endhint %}

## Test Delivery Methods

To make sure everything is set up, scroll down to **Test delivery methods** and tap **Send test**. CertLocker sends a test notification on every channel, then shows the **Results** for each one: **Sent**, **Skipped** (with the reason), or **Error** (with details to help you fix it). Check your email, phone, and devices to be sure each test arrived.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.firecal.app/more/notification-preferences.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
