# Create an Account

Let's get you on the roster.

## Tap Create an Account

Welcome! Now that you've got the app open, tap **Create an account** below the **Sign in** button to create your FireCal account using your email address.

## Complete the Registration Form

Add your **Display name** (the name other people will see in the app), your preferred **Email** for signing in and hearing from us, and a secure **Password** (ideally created with a password manager), then enter it again in **Confirm password**.

As you type your password, CertLocker checks it off against the rules shown below the field: an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, a symbol, and at least 12 characters. When both entries agree, you'll see **Passwords match**. If you'd like to double check what you typed, tap the **Eye Icon** at the end of each password field to show or hide it.

{% hint style="info" %}
**We recommend using your personal email address**, even if you're using CertLocker with your department. CertLocker is built with individual responders in mind, so the Certs *you earn* can follow you throughout your career.
{% endhint %}

Finally, read the **Terms of Service** and **Privacy Policy** (both are links), then tick the box beside **I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy**.

## Tap Create Account

**Create account** lights up once your password meets every rule and the box is ticked. Tap it, and CertLocker will create your account. If anything needs attention (a missing name, or an email address that's already in use, for example), you'll see a notice explaining what to fix.

## Pick a Profile Photo

Next, you'll be asked to **Pick a profile photo**. A friendly face makes it easier for your colleagues and supervisors to know it's really you when you ask to follow them or join their Org. Choose one of the default images, or tap **Upload your own photo** to use a picture of yourself, then tap **Continue**.

You can change your photo any time later from **More>Edit Profile** (see [Edit Profile](/more/edit-profile.md)).

## Welcome Aboard!

With your account created, you'll be routed to your [Daily Briefing](/getting-started/daily-briefing.md), where a short **Getting started** checklist will guide you through your first steps. We recommend you start by adding your first Cert (see [Import Certs with AI](/my-certs/import-certs-with-ai.md) or [Add a Cert](/my-certs/add-a-cert.md)).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.firecal.app/getting-started/create-an-account.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
